REUNION LUNCHEON
The reunion LUNCHEON was held at the VILANO PIER
RESTAURANT which is walking distance from the hotel. It was a buffet with entrées of fried shrimp
and teriyaki chicken,
mashed potatoes, rice , string beans, bread, beverage and
desserts

1998 Vaughan Reunion - Green Cove Springs Florida
The Vaughan family enjoyed a wonderful 1998 reunion in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Over 50 Vaughan descendants enjoyed food fellowship and fun on the front
porch of the home of the late Mildred Oleta Vaughan Rivers and her husband, the late Judge Thomas J.
Rivers.

The
1998 Reunion - A Narrative
The weather was HOT that July of 1998. The
old Rivers home had never been properly air-conditioned so most family members
sat or stood on the large wrap-a-round porch that overlooks the scenic Spring
Park
downtown Green Cove Springs. This date was chosen for the reunion because
it was nearest the birthday of Lucretia Elizabeth
Sanders Vaughan who lived in this house until her death in the mid-1960's.
A delicious lunch catered by Sonny's Bar-B-Que was enjoyed by all present. Afternoon activities
included a visit to the Hickory Grove Cemetery where many of the members of the
Vaughan family are buried. A walk through the cemetery is like a walk
through history.

The 2000 Reunion - A
Narrative
The weather was perfect. The setting was
absolutely beautiful. The family that gathered enjoyed seeing each other
again. We had a few NEW family members there, too: Babies Alexis
and Veda who hadn't arrived in time for the 1998 reunion.
Cousin Letitia was our
gracious hostess and did a magnificent job. She had tables set up on her
front veranda, in a clearing in the nearby woods, and in the house for those
who wanted air-conditioning! The family thanks Letitia
and her husband Jim for allowing the Vaughans to have
the reunion in Glencoe this year.
Those families that stayed at the Gadsden Inn and
Suites enjoyed late evening visits sharing family remembrances on the deck
overlooking the Coosa River.

8, 2003 - St. Augustine Florida
Word was received several weeks ago of the death of
Austin Mitchell in Kanapolis, North Carolina. Austin had not missed a Vauighan
Family Reunion since we started having them in 1998 in Green Cove
Springs. He was at the 2002 reunion with his granddaughter and seemed to
be in the best of health. He certainly was in the best of spirits,
though. Here is a picture of Austin taken at the 2002 Reunion luncheon.
